Sermon Notes 8/27 – Paul’s Second Prayer

EPHESIANS 3:14-19
(1.) PRAYER IS ABOUT RELATIONSHIP – Ephesians 1:2,3;4:6 & 3:15
-there is only one God – Dt 6:4 — and there is a trinity, Father, Son & Holy Spirit – only one God who can manifest Himself as Father, Son & Holy Spirit – each one God, co-equal and co-eternal
-God the Father wants us to have a relationship with Him & spend time with Him
-The Lord’s prayer – Our FATHER who is in heaven – Matthew 5:9
-John 16:23 – pray to the Father in the name of Jesus
-God the Father is good, gracious, love, patient and Kind
-Be aware of “Daddy” or “Father” issues when it comes to prayer……
           Two Questions
1. Who is the Father – 1 Peter 1:15-16 – He is Holy
-Holy – means to be set apart.  God the Father is set apart from all other gods and fathers.  God the Father is the One true and living God…
2. What image have we formed of God?
-We form an image of God from what our earthly Father was like
Ephesians 3:19 – “Be filled with all of the Fullness of God “
—filled – means to be crammed full/to be filled to the top/to have a complete supply
-the fullness of God – are the blessings of the Lord – wisdom, holiness & peace
                                        TWO POINTS
1.) To be filled with all of the fullness of God, we have to empty ourselves of ourselves
-the Lord can’t fill something that is already full
2.) The reason the Father wants to fill us with His fullness is so we will understand that only He satisfies
-The Father is only filling us with things that satisfy
-Only Jesus and His Word satisfy
