Sermon Notes 6/19 – Father’s Day – Pastor Jeff, Pastor Tony, Pastor Dave

1st Service – Pastor Jeff

Luke 12:48
Idea: We are held responsible for what we have
We are expected to use what God has given us to bring glory to God
Matthew 25:14-30
One day we will all give an account
  1. Everything we have is given to us by God.
Do we see ourselves as stewards or owners?
  • A steward lives for the day he will return the Master’s goods to Him.
  • An owner believes his possessions are his to spend in any way he sees.
We can be so focused on the American Dream, that we neglect what the Lord has given us.

Stewards are to care, manage, grow and prosper for the owner

Realizing that we can not take this stuff when we go…Makes us see things differently  —
When you have an Ownership Mentality
There is more pressure, we don’t want to lose it, we think we have full control of it and it changes the way that we act.
2. Never count your neighbors change, just invest yours
Each servant had a different amount “Each according to his ability.” (Matthew 25: 15)
Everyone receives something, but not everyone receives the same.
The father knew who would invest well….
The Lord has you where you are at for a reason
Jesus made the ones that invested well, rulers
Jesus Return is Going to Happen
“After a long time the master of those servants returned,
The Master invites the faithful servant to share in the master’s happiness (Matthew 25: 21)
3. Do not bury it
The last man felt defeated, maybe it was his experience in the past that brought on fear
He used an excuse…….
Our view of God will determine the choices we make.
2 Corinthians 12:9
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2nd Service – Pastor Tony

1.  Get right with your dad

.  Don’t project what you have learned from your earthly father upon your heavenly Father
.  Don’t live with a victim mentality
.  Don’t let the past dictate the future
.  Being accepted by him means something but not everything
.  Practice the principle of honor and forgiveness
2.  Be the right dad
.  Be an example of Jesus in your home.  Work on your issues!
.  “Don’t do as I do, do as I say” Is not a practice that works
.  Connect with your family and stay connected never stop talking to them
.  Be there
.  Provide and get a job
.  Child discipline is not an outburst of anger
3.  Get right with your heavenly Father
.  You are adopted into His family.  You are a son or a daughter of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords Jesus Christ
.  Through this divine adoption you have a new spirit
.  At the cross generational curses were broken

.  ABBA  = through this adoption He is personally my Heavenly Father Daddy God!

3rd Service – Pastor Dave

The Anchor
Hebrews 6:13-20
One of the most important tools in a boat is the anchor.
The anchor keeps you stable in rough seas.
The anchor keeps you pointed in the right direction.
The anchor keeps you from shipwrecking.
vs 13-15
God is not a “higher power”
He is the Highest Power, with the highest Authority.
Only the Highest Authority can confirm an oath by His own Name.
verse 16  Men confirm an oath using God’s Name
vs 17-18  immutable – unchangeable
God’s purpose is unchangeable
God’s oath/covenant is unchangeable
God’s immutability gives us strong consolation
We are to take hold of the hope set before us
Make sure the rope you are holding is Hope.
Wrong ropes lead to false hopes.
Four examples of “wrong ropes”:
Battle Comfort with ADVERSITY
Battle Routine with RISK
Battle Condemnation with CONFIDENCE
Battle Fear with COURAGE
Jesus is the Anchor and our Hope.
Jesus is both sure and steadfast.
