Sermon Notes 5/19 – The Voice of The Holy Spirit Always Agrees with The Bible


                       ALWAYS AGREES WITH THE BIBLE
Amos 8:11-12 – there is a spiritual famine in our nation
-the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible -2 Timothy 3:12-17
          Why Should Believers Read The Bible?
(1.) The Bible produces moral certainty and clarity – Lk 17:22-30/Dt 22:5 & 1 Cor 6:9-11
***We need to love all communities & groups of people
***The focus concerning people is on the sin nature
(2.) We read the Bible so we can defend the gospel – Phil 1:16
-apologetics – defend the gospel against false doctrine
-the Holy Spirit speaks through the Word of God and points to Jesus & the Word
-the Holy Spirit speaks
***The Holy Spirit is speaking even when He is silent……..
(3.) We read the Bible because it produces HOPE – Romans 15:4, 13
Hope is an expectancy that things r going to get better – and we receive this by faith and by staying close to the Lord
               a.) Our HOPE is only in Jesus Christ
Now – Prov 24:14
Eternally – Prov 23:18
**Hold fast to your confession of HOPE… – Hebrews 10:23
(4.) We read the Bible to possess theological integrity – Prov 3:5-6
-we must have Biblical knowledge and doctrine in context
-Examples: Mark 11:24 & Matthew 5:29-30
-Leaders can be deceived and not be teaching right doctrine and theology
*Isaiah 56:10-12
v10 – dumb dogs – they just sleep all day long
       – do not bark – do not confront sin by preaching the Word of God
v11 – they are never satisfied and always want money
v12 – the leaders are involved in sin and wickedness
***The voice of the Holy Spirit always lines up with the Word of God – Gal 1:8-9
-whatever anyone or anything else says, always go along with the Word of God
