Sermon Notes 12/8 – The Holy Spirit and Samson

The Holy Spirit and Samson

(1.) SAMSON WAS A VOICE RAISED UP BY THE HOLY SPIRIT TO ISRAEL

***Samson was a judge of Israel to be a Voice
***The Lord has called the body of Christ to be a Voice today
***Some points to remember about being a voice:
Point#1 – The Lord has prepared people to hear the gospel – Eccl 3:11
-The Holy Spirit is all about the harvest
           *conviction
           *pointing people to Jesus
           *presence
*the gifts of the Holy Spirit
-Eternity – there is something more after this life/eternity is for everyone/is forever
        Point # 2 – – People are listening – Isaiah 55:11
Point #3 – There is only one questions to answer:
WHAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL MATTER 200 YEARS FROM NOW?
(2.) SAMSON WAS RAISED UP TO OPERATE IN THE SUPERNATURAL POWER AND PRESENCE OF THE LORD  – Judges 14:5-6/14:19/15:14
***Judges 13:24-25 – to operate in the supernatural, you must spend time with Jesus every day
***Samson took a Nazarite vow – Judges 13:1-5 – He started off well, but didn’t finish well – Judges 16:20
***two points to note:
            1. Operating in the supernatural power & presence of the Lord has everything to do with our Nazarite vow – Matthew 6:6 & Psalm 91
-the only way to operate and increase in the supernatural is by spending daily time with Jesus
-the secret place – Matthew 6:6 – is where we spend time with Jesus every day
secret – refers to something being hidden or concealed
—the hidden things of our lives come to the surface in the secret place
—the Lord shares with us things we do not know in the secret place
As we spend time in the secret place – MORE – happens….
***A Warning from the Lord: There is a push in the church that “Less is More”
We want more of everything the Lord has for us…
          Psalm 91
verse 1 – He – this is every born again believer
-dwells – means to remain and permanently stay…attach yourself to someone
-secret place – a place to spend time with Jesus
1.) TO DWELL IN CHRIST YOU MUST BE SAVED AND STAY SAVED – Ps 91:1
-dwell means to stay
-develop staying power
2.) TO DWELL IN THE SECRET PLACE WITH JESUS IS A CHOICE  – Ps 91:1
-every believer makes the choice to spend time with Jesus
-the rewards we receive for dwelling daily with Jesus are innumerable – Heb 11:6
-2 John 8 – receive a full reward
-it is not hard to dwell – it is discipline
3.) TO DWELL WITH JESUS IN THE SECRET PLACE EVERY DAY IS FOREVER – Acts 14:21-22
-it is continuing to be with Jesus every day until we get to heaven
-it is developing spiritual habits
4.) DWELLING WITH JESUS EVERY DAY IS A PRIORITY – Matthew 6:19-33
-we make room for what is important in our lives
