Sermon Notes 1/30 – Zechariah

Zechariah received 8 visions from the Lord on one night

Vision #1 – The vision of the man and the Horses among the Myrtle Trees – vs7-17

vs11-12 – How long do we have to wait for our trial to end?

verse 13 – good & comforting words –  means valuable, reassuring and useful words

The Lord said — It’s Time!!!

v14 – Proclaim – means to call out with energy and spirit.  To make something publicly known

        *verses 14-17 – these are the good and comforting words – blessings from the Lord

Matthew 6:33 – when we repent and turn to the Lord , He blesses us

                            *******BLESSINGS OF THE LORD

1. The Protection Of The Lord

zeal – is deep emotion for someone

               —the Lord will protect us and get us to heaven

Zion – these are believers in Jerusalem

—the Lord protects non-Christians because of Christians

—the Lord blesses non-Chriostians because of Christians

2 Thess 2:1-12

Genesis 30:25-30

verse 15 – the Lord used the enemies of Israel to discipline Israel

-these enemies went to far and the Lord dealt with them

2. The Restoration of the Lord – verse 16

-A surveyors Line – this was used to measure where houses, businesses and the temple would go

-The Lord woul;d restore what the enemy took away

   The Lords House Will Be Built.  It refers to two things:

1. The temple will; be rebuilt – the priority

2. The Lords house will be built in the NT – Joshua 1:5 and Matthew 16:18

verse 17 – The Lord Will Prosper His Children

spread out – means super abundance/overflow/it speaks of water spreading everywhere

chosen – means to select everyone to prosper

                                Zechariah 1:18-21 – VISION # 2

        THE VISION OF THE 4 HORNS AND THE 4 CRAFTSMEN

verse 18 – Zechariah looks up to the heavens…

4 horns – refers to 4 empires

verse 19 – Babylon…Medo -Persia…Greece and Rome

scatter – they scattered the Jewish people among the nations of the world – means to sift…disperse…wound and hurt

verse 20-21 – 4 craftsmen – are 4 nations that take down the 4 horns which include the Kingdom of God – Daniel 2:44

cast out – means to destroy

             ZECHARIAH 2 – VISION #3 – THE MAN WITH THE MEASURING LINE

Zechariah 2:1-13

1. Israels Future – vs1-5   2. Israels Call – vs6-9   3. Israels Position – vs10-13

                ISRAELS FUTURE – vs1-5

verse 1 – lifted up my eyes – Zechariah was wide awake

behold – to get peoples attention

man – Jesus is all God and all man

verse 2 – Jesu sis measuring out the size of Israel to reveal the blessings coming to Israel.  If Israel will obey the Lord & repent, the Lord will prosper them.

vs3-4 – speaks of the blessings of the Lord for Israel – Deut 28:13

The Lord will bless us today if we repent – Matthew 6:33

         verse 5 – 2 Characteristics of the Lord

1. Our God is a consuming fire & a wall of fire – Hebrews 12:29

-the fire of God will protect Israel

2. Our God is a God of glory – verse 5

glory – represents the presence of the Lord

-weight -we can sense and feel the weight of the presence of the Lord
