Sermon Notes 8/29 – MARK: GENNESARET

 Mark 6 & 7

-Mark 6:48 – the disciples were in a hurricane – a battle

Mark 6:53-56 – Gennesaret – blessings

             v54 – Jesus was present and they recognized this

-the motive of the crowd was to receive and not to give…Always be givers – Luke 6:38

-something should always be happening

vs2-5 – the religious leaders come to Jesus

-always look for the good and help fix anything that is not working right

1. Help fix any issues

2. Embrace the great things that are happening

vs1-5 – Scribes – were writers who added traditions to the Word & law of Moses –

vs6-8 – they were hypocrites – means to play the part of an actor

vs9-13 – the scribes and pharisees did not follow the Word which says to honor their parents

vs14-23 – where does sin, wickedness and evil come from ?  Inside of us

-we are not saved or holy because of what we eat

-our main problem is that we have a heart issue – it is inside of us – vs20-23

         Ways to get our hearts right with the Lord?

1. We must be saved – Jeremiah 17:9-10 and Ezekiel 36:26-27

-only the Lord can change a heart

2. Examine yourself – Psalm 51:1-13

-focus inward, but then focus upward — do not focus outward

3. Repent – 1 John 1:9 – confess – means to turn away and turn to/to agree with God

4. Be Filled – Ephesians 5:18

-being filled with the Holy Spirit keeps the flesh down in us & keeps us right with God
