Mark 2

Mark 2

                            We Need A Breakthrough
v4 – we need a spiritual breakthrough (v4)
Breakthrough means
a. to smash an obstacle to make progress
b. a military offensive that penetrates the enemies territory
c. to remove anything that restrains a flow
Who will give us the breakthrough ?
*Jesus Christ – Micah 2:13 – Jesus is the Breaker
***Why do we need a Breakthrough?
*Our nation is away from Jesus
*The church needs to be set on fire
*The Lord is coming back soon
If there is going to be a Spiritual Breakthrough:
1. Jesus must be in the house
2. The Bible must be preached
3. There must be prayer (v4)
*The Lord is looking for some people who will give themselves to prayer…
Roofs were made of mud, branches, leaves & you could dig through them to get inside
(1) PRAYER IS WORK
-it is hard to get people to pray because it is work
-it was work for these men to dig through the roof
(2) PRAYER WORKS
-The Lord answers prayer – Matthew 7:7-8/Psalms118:5,21 & 1 John 5:14-15
-Prayer produces the supernatural – this paralyzed man was saved and healed
For prayer to continue to work, two things must happen:
     1. We Must Continue To Pray – Mark 10:46-52
-these 4 men continued to dig until there was a breakthrough
-this man in Mark 10 kept crying out to Jesus/it stopped Jesus in His tracks…
     2. We Must Pray Believing Prayers
-these 4 men knew if they got this man to Jesus that he would be healed
-James 5:15
(3) PRAYER CREATES WORK
-more people to disciple
-more people get saved
-more people to visit
Why 4 Men?
-it refers to corporate prayer where a group of people gather to pray…Deut 32:30
-the pattern for prayer is the Book of Acts – Acts 2:14-15
Look what happened when they prayed together…..
Acts 2:2 – 120 people baptized in the Holy Spirit
v3 – spoke in tongues
vs14, 37 – Holy Spirit preaching
v41 – ater baptism
vs41, 47 – people saved
v42 – discipleship
Acts 3 – healing, gifts of the Spirit operating, miracles
One way to pray is speaking in tongues…….and receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 14:1-3 – your spirit man prays and the Holy Spirit prays through you…
