VICTORY IN A STORM
Mark 4:35-41
STORMS WILL BE A PART OF EVERYONE’S LIFE – Mark 4:35-36
a. Jesus is our example to follow and went through storms
b. there will be all kinds of storms
c. *being in a storm does not mean y are out of the will of God
*You cannot always pray away storms
d. The Bible says we will go through storms – 2 Tim 3:1…Acts 14:22…1 Peter 4:12-13
STORMS WILL COME TO EVERY BELIEVER………….all sizes and types
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WHEN A STORM COMES?
(1) CLAIM A PROMISE – 4:35
-we have a Word from the Lord
-stand on the Word of God
-this storm in Mark was unexpected, but the disciples had a promise…
-We have over 4,000 promises in the Bible to hang on to
***The Lord fulfills His promises – Mark 5:1
-He always comes through for us
(2) GET YOUR EYES ON A PERSON – VS36-38
-Stay focused on a Person, Jesus Christ, and not on a storm
v37 – this was a hurricane intense storm – destructive
***OUR EYES MAKE ALL OF THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD***
The disciples eyes were on the storm – fear
The eyes of Jesus were on the Father – peace
*Keep your eyes on Jesus because He is always with you…
(3.) POWER – USE THE POWER THE LORD HAS GIVEN TO YOU – vs38-39
1. We have the power of praise – which produces focus, peace and refreshment
-the disciples criticized the Lord and complained – Don’t you care about us
2. We have power over demonic influences – v39
v39 – Jesus rebukes the wind and this is the same word He used in Mark 1:25 to rebuke a demon
-this storm was demonic – not all storms are
(4.) PURPOSE – vs40-41
-realize there is a divine purpose for every storm
1. to rearrange your mental furniture
-pull down all flesh and enemy thoughts
-Speak up and keep on speaking…
-Purposes for storms
-to build our faith
-to humble us
-to grow and mature us
-to reveal issues in our lives
