The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ

1. It is a HISTORICAL Fact

-Historians were present during the life and death of Jesus & wrote about it

2. It is a SCIENTIFIC Fact

-a scientific fact is proven when something can be seen over and over again.  Jesus appeared to different groups after He rose.

3. It’s a WRITTEN Fact

-there are over 5,000 copies in the original Greek language about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ

4. It’s an Archaelogical Fact

-The finds in Israel of the tomb, Peter’s house, fishing boats at the time of Jesus prove He is risen

5. It’s a SPIRITUAL Fact

Millions and millions of people have been changed and saved over the centuries

(1) THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST IS A PROMISE – Mark 9:31 and Mark 10:32-34

-over and over again Jesus promised that He would rise

-Jesus keeps His Word on anything He said

-I WILL FORGIVE YOU OF ALL OF YOUR SINS – Psalm 103:3,12

***Focus on the One who forgives and not on your sins – -Focus On Jesus…….

-the core, essence, and nature of Jesus is to forgive

-Jesus desires to forgive everyone

              4 Things About Forgiveness

       1. We have all sinned, but all sins can be forgiven – Jeremiah 33:8

-all sins can be forgiven

       2. Jesus forgives you as often as you sin

-this does not give anyone permission to sin all they want

-this reveals the fact that all of us commit the same sins over & over again

EX: Peter denied Jesus 3 times

       All believers

        3. Jesus never holds your sins against you – Isaiah 43:25

-When we are saved, our past sins are forgiven and wiped away

-we start our new life in Christ with a clean slate – we are forgiven…

        4. Forgiveness allows a person to enter into heaven – Hebrews 12:1-3

-To enter into heaven we must: confess our sins and surrender to Jesus Christ

-LISTEN TO THE CROWD……Hebrews 12:1-3

The Crowd…..A great cloud of witnesses in heaven.  These are all born again believers…….

Cloud – this is not a single white cloud, but an all-encompassing cloud that surrounds us and is everywhere…

Witnesses – This word speaks of 2 things:

1. Those who see – they see what is happening on earth, but view everything with eternal eyes

2. Those who say – they encourage us to follow Jesus.  That there is a heaven and they are cheering us on…

(2) THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST PRODUCED THE PERSUASION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT – John 14:16-17a and John 16:5-11

***The Holy Spirit in Invisible, but real and you can see the effects of the Holy Spirit

***The Holy Spirit is a Persuader and does not force anyone to do anything

v8 – convict – is a legal term that speaks of cross-examining someone until they plead guilty

The Holy Spirit PERSUADES people of 3 things:

1. That everyone has sinned and needs a Savior – vs8-9

-everyone has sinned and needs a Savior

-Jesus is the only way to heaven and to forgive sins

2. We need the righteousness of Jesus – vs8,10

Righteousness – means to be in right standing with the Lord

-good works will not gain us salvation

-we need the Lord’s righteousness which can happen only by being saved

3. The Holy Spirit persuades us of judgment – vs8,11

-we will all stand before the Lord face to face

-The Lord will make a decision based on our decision

-Choose Jesus…Eternal Life…Forgiveness
