Do Not Be Politically Correct

-the culture we live in uses the name God all of the time

-The name Jesus is being eliminated from society

-the name God can be used for any religion  – doesn’t offend…

Labeling yourself a person of faith

-a person of faith can believe in anything

Point #3

Using The Name God Does Not Make You A Christian

-1 John2:21-23 – you must not only believe in God but also in Jesus Christ

(1) THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS

Power to Heal – Acts 3:1-10 (v6)

-power to heal any sickness and disease

Power Over Demonic Forces – Acts 16:16-18

-use your authority – keep on using it

Power To Save – Acts 4:12

-Jesus is the only way to be saved

-the name Jesus means Jehovah saves

-Luke 19:1-10

(2) THE NAME JESUS DECLARES THAT HE IS GOD – Matthew 16:13-18 & Isaiah 9:6

a. Since Jesus is God, do not take His name in vain – Exodus 20:7

a. You – this is for every believer

-the Lord’s name is to be honored, glorified, praised and lifted up

b. this principle is to be followed forever

c. the principle is to never use the Lord’s name in an insincere way/misuse

-be irreverent with the Lord’s name

-we dishonor His name when we do not live for Him

d. we will be held accountable when we misuse His name

(3) THE NAME OF JESUS IS ABOVE ALL NAMES – Phil 2:5-11

-the name of Jesus is above everyone and everything

-it is “THE NAME”

-every knee will bow and every tongue confess

confess – this is an open verbal declaration

-Jesus Christ is Lord – means sir; one in control; master
