The Great 8
Romans 8
Romans 8:1 – there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus
The definition of condemnation:
*to say in a strong way that someone is bad
*to punish someone
*to cause someone to live in an unpleasant or difficult condition
*to disapprove of someone which involves rejection
The Comparison between Condemnation vs Conviction
*******CONDEMNATION*******
-putting people down
-crushing them under the weight of guilt and shame
-to put people down/to tear them down
-to make people feel bad
-produces death and sadness
——-this is from the enemy and the flesh
********CONVICTION***********
-reveals wrongs, but lifts up
-reveals to us what needs to be changed in our lives
-produces tears and life
-brings great victory and relief
-raises us up to a new level in Christ
-corrects someone and moves you forward
——–this comes from the Holy Spirit
Condemnation deals namely with 3 areas:
***our PAST
***our IDENTITY
***our SINS
(1) CONDEMNATION DEALS WITH OUR PAST
———everyone has a past
*there are many things we cannot change about our pasts
SOME THINGS ABOUT THE PAST
1. Lose Interest In Your Past Thoughts
-admit your wrongs
-ask for forgiveness
-take authority over those thoughts
2. Our Pasts Can Be Forgiven
-no matter what we have done in our past
-the enemy pounds us about our past
3. Your Past Will Not Stop What God Has Planned For You In The Future
(2) CONDEMNATION DEALS WITH OUR IDENTITY – Romans 8:1
v1 – In Christ – as a believer I am in Christ and this happened when I was redeemed
-our identity is in Christ and in nothing else
-the enemy steps in trying to destroy our identity
(3) CONDEMNATION DEALS WITH OUR SINS – Zechariah 3:1-5
a. condemnation can come when we are right or when you are wrong
***WHEN WE ARE RIGHT
-when we make right decisions but get condemned any way
***WHEN WE SIN – Zechariah 3:1-5
vs1-3 – A picture of Israel and Condemnation
Joshua the High Priest – represents Israel
v1 – he showed me – is an angel
-the enemy was present because Israel sinned. The enemy condemns us when we sin
v2 – we were all on our way to hell, but the Lord rescued us
v3 – Israel is filthy and dirty and smells – they were in sin
There is silence because Israel is guilty
v4 – The Lord says 2 things:
1. I forgive you
2. I give you my righteousness
v5 – this is a complete cleansing.
-the turban was made of fine linen, wound around the head with a gold plate on it engraved on the front with the words—–“Holiness to the Lord.” Forgiven and completely cleansed from sin…
Condemnation is lifting NOW………….Receive it…….
