Psalm 23

Psalm 23

v1 – I shall not want refers to 2 things:
                           (1) THE LORD DECREASES OUR WANT
***we shall not want the things of the world
***we only want and desire Jesus Christ
                           (2) PROVISION
Jehovah Jireh  – the Lord who provides
-the Lord provides everything for us
The Lord’s Provision is a combination of mainly 2 things:
1. Is Based On Priority – Matthew 6:33
Our priority is a relationship with Jesus Christ
2. Is Based On Planting – Gal 6:7 & Phil 4:15-16, 19
***You reap what you sow
***You reap later than you sow
***You reap more than you sow
v3 – REST
*if we do not rest, He will make us rest
           How can we rest?
(1) REST IS BASED ON RELATIONSHIP – 1 Peter 5:7 & Matt 11:28
-we can rest in the Lord
-in the midst of a world falling apart – we can have peace – Phil 4:6-7
We can break free from the grip of anxiety, fear, worry and great stress.  How?
               a. Realize your hope is not in a plan, but in a person
-turn to Jesus to help you out
-He is present and can do anything
              b. Declare that you will live – Psalm 118:17
              c. Resist the enemy – James 4:7 and John 8:44
-the enemy speaks lies.  Resist them…
-REMEMBER:  Your giant may be big, but your giant is not bigger than Jesus
(2) REST IS BASED ON UNITY
-we must have peace in the church at all times
-God moves when there is unity and peace
Remember:  the #1 reason real sheep do not rest is if they have been fighting or have even witnessed any kind of fighting
(3) REST IS BASED ON THE WORD OF GOD – v2b
The Lord leads beside the still waters – this represents the Word of God
***The Lord Leads – which means we must follow and He is first
-He sees things before we see things
             (1) The Lord leads us to the Word of God
-we must read, memorize and stand on the Bible
-He is not leading you away from the Word – Isaiah 26:3
             (2) The Lord leads us by the Word of God
-what is right or wrong?
-what is true or false doctrine?
The Word brings you peace and when you have peace, you are in the will of God…
