Sermon Notes 9/8 – The Holy Spirit Is Moving
Genesis 1:1-2
1. The Holy Spirit is a person, trinity – (Elohim is plural) & alive and active & moving
2. The Holy Spirit is continually moving
-the word hovering is continual
3. Obstacles
OBSTACLE #1 – THE HOLY SPIRIT IS INVISIBLE
John 3:1-8 – wind represents the Holy Spirit and they are both invisible
***We know the invisible world is real and moving:
1.) By Faith
2.) By the fruit and effects of the Holy Spirit
OBSTACLE #2 – FOCUS & SIGHT – 2 Corinthians 5:7/John 20:24-29
-we do not have to see to believe
-do not deny what we see, but speak faith
-Romans 4: 13-21 – Abraham & Sarah
OBSTACLE #3 – EMOTIONS
-this is our feelings and emotions
-the word emotion refers to moving away – moving us away from the Lord
-we are not emotional people, but spirit people in bodies with emotions
4.) WHEN IT COMES TO THE HOLY SPIRIT MOVING WE HAVE A CHOICE – Genesis 6:1-14
-we have a choice to sense the moving of the Holy Spirit or resist it
-strive – means to plead your cause/to debate/to deal with/wrestle with
-the Holy Spirit is always striving with people to get people saved and becoming more and more like Jesus Christ
***Unbelievers – blaspheme the Holy Spirit – this is dieing in the state of rejecting Jesus as their Savior and Lord
***Believers – can grieve the Holy Spirit – Ephesians 4:30 – which is making the Lord sad when the believer sins
***When the Holy Spirit moves, things happen that are unpredictable
-2 Kings 6:1-7 – an iron axe head floats
-1 Kings 17:17-24 – Elijah laid on a boy 3 times for a healing
-Mark 8:1-8 – Jesus feeds thousands of people with a few fish and loaves
