Sermon Notes 9/24 – Get Out of the Cave

1 Kings 19: 7-10

The cave represents a type of depression
Don’t dare judge someone else’s struggle.
“My heart feels like it has a death sentence…”
-Apostle Paul
Even the best of God’s people struggle with depression
3 steps to get out of the Cave!
1 Kings 19:11-13
Step #1: Get a word from the Lord
The Lord speaks to us through His word.
Make time for His voice….you make your own calendar.
Slow down and listen for the still small voice
1 Kings 19:13-15
Step #2: Confront your fears with the power of God
Most phobias are caused by a spirit of fear.
Phobias, illnesses, and other labels cannot put an end to what God is doing in us.
The enemy can’t stop something that God starts in us!
“In order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ power may rest on me. For Christ sake, I delight and weaknesses, in insults, and hardships, and persecution, and difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong” 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
1 Kings 19:18
Step #3: remember you are not alone.
God gave us the “church” to hold each other accountable and to support each others in our calling.
