Sermon Notes 8/27 – Revelation Chapter 11

REVELATION CHAPTER 11

v3 – Power – supernatural power – Acts 1:8 power
-the 2 witnesses will preach 3 and a half years
-a witness does two things:  Sees – 1 Chr 12:32 and talks – Matthew 28:18-20
(preaches repentance) – sackcloth – made out of black goat’s hair – uncomfortable to wear
v4 – 2 Descriptions of the 2 witnesses
1. Olive Trees – this represents the anointing of the Lord – Luke 4:16-20
2. Lampstands – Matt 5:14-16 – being a light in dark places
v5 – they had Satan’s attention
-the enemy’s days are numbered…
-fire comes out of their mouths – literal or the Word of God, which is fire – Jeremiah 5:14
verse 6 – The 2 Witnesses have power:
-to shut up the sky
-turn water into blood
-plagues come upon the earth
verse 7 – Who are two people in the Bible who never died?
-the two witnesses were supernaturally protected
-finish – when we are done with our Jesus assignment, we are going to heaven
-they were publicly executed by the antichrist
-the antichrist is demon-possessed – from the bottomless pit
verse 8 – The great city is Jerusalem
-it was spiritually and morally corrupt
verse 9 – the bodies of the witnesses are left on the street
-the whole world sees this
verse 10 – It’s Christmas for the world – a time of celebration – the prophets are dead
          vs11-13 – THE MOVING OF THE WITNESSES
-they are resurrected
-the Lord can resurrect dead things
-people still do not get saved
verse 12 – the 2 witnesses head up to heaven (Rev 4:1)
-In a cloud – represents the presence and glory of God
verse 13 – a great earthquake takes place
-people are amazed but still do not get saved
vs14-19 – The 7th Trumpet Judgment starts
Three Announcements are Made

     1. AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF VICTORY – v15

     2. AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF PRAISE – vs16-18

24 elders – represents all believers from the OT and NT
-worshipped – means to give the Lord praise that He deserves
-v17 – it is a time of thanksgiving – Jesus is always present
v18 – the nations are angry against Jesus and the gospel/want to stop it
-the believers receive rewards
-the unbelievers receive the judgment of God because they rejected Jesus
-2 Samuel 6:1-7 – do not hinder the move and presence of the Holy Spirit

     3. AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE LORD’S PRESENCE
