It’s Time To Pray

1 John 5:14-15
***We pray because when we pray the Lord moves
***We pray because we have a promise – 2 Chronicles 7:14
***We pray because prayer opens up things – Matthew 3:13-17
*Prayer opens up heaven
*Things come through when heaven opens up
*The Anointing of the Holy Spirit Comes Through
The Acquired Anointing occurs at salvation when we receive the Holy Spirit
***Anointing means to rub & smear with oil & is the presence of the Lord – Acts 10:38
***The Anointing is for everyone
       THE ANOINTING OF ACTION – Luke 4:14-30 – this is doing something
verse 14 – 2 elements of the ministry of Jesus
1. v14 – the miracle working power of Jesus – dunamis – miraculous power
2. v15 – the teaching of Jesus Christ
-10 Jewish families needed a synagogue
-v17 – Jesus turns to Isaiah 61:1-2b
vs 18-19 – this is a Messianic passage – Jesus was saying He is the Messiah
Luke 4:18-19 – The Anointing is to do something:

1. THE ANOINTING IS TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR – v18

        The Lord has good news for the poor.  The word poor refers to 2 things:
             a. it speaks of the spiritual poor – we need Jesus – Psalm 34:6
             b. it speaks of our needs being met – Psalm 78:23-24

2. THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED  – v18

-it describes being crushed/hurt emotionally and wounded
-heal – means to cure over a period of time

3. THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT BRINGS DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVES AND TO THE BRUISED OR OPPRESSED – v18

deliverance – means to be dismissed/permanently set free
captives refers to the tip of a spear
-oppressed or bruised – means a fractured life/broken into pieces

4. THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT PRODUCES SIGHT TO THE BLIND  – v18

          Recovering of sight has 2 meanings:
                1. means to see again – the miraculous restoration of ones sight
                2. means to spiritually see – 2 Cor 4:4
verse 19 – THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS SO WE CAN PROCLAIM THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD
Acceptable -means a favorable time to receive.  The acceptable and favorable time of the Lord is whenever the Anointing of the Holy Spirit is present  It is present today – right now………
