Verse One – rain – there is physical rain and spiritual rain

1. Spiritual rain is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and His blessings and grace

2. Spiritual rain is from the Lord – v1

Lord – Is Jehovah

-we get the words to be & to live from Jehovah and He is the God of revelation

3. Spiritual Rain is for everyone – v1

-grass in the field for everyone

-The Lord is not a respecter of persons – James 2:1-10

-How do we receive this rain?  Zechariah 10:1

      ***ASK – Matthew 7:7-8 and Genesis 32:22-32 – ask continually

-Ask and Stand on the Word of God

verse 2 – When spiritual rain falls, you separate from all idols and only worship Jesus

What is an idol?  It is something more important in your life than Jesus

-the word idol is teraphim – small idols you could carry with you

HOW CAN WE BECOME FREE FROM IDOLS?

1. DEVELOP AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE REAL THING

Psalm 63:1-8

-be saved

-all other gods and idols are false – 1 Cor 12:2

-David was thirsty for the Lord and had the right motive

2. MAKE A DECISION TO ALLOW NOTHING TO RULE YOU BUT JESUS

Matthew 6:24…Mark 10:17-27

-the Lord will deal with that area in our lives that needs to be broken

3. COUNT THE COST – Luke 14:28

-there is a price to pay to stay close to Jesus

verses 2-3 – Leaders need to warn people about idolatry

-the Lord came against leaders who allowed idolatry to exist and function

                  -Leaders must teach on current issues that are occurring

                  -Leaders will be dealt with by Jesus

***The Lord will make us like a royal horse in battle – courageous…strong…determined…victorious

***We must keep two words in our vocabulary – I AM

-this has to do with our Identity

Remember:  Whatever follows the I Am will eventually define us
