Marriages
1 PETER 3:1-7
1. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR MARRIAGE
– 1 Peter 3:1
Own – means who you are married to now is it – there is no one else
– It is a covenant
– It’s not a mistake
– The Lord did not tell you to leave
TWO POINTS
#1 – never use the words divorce or separation
#2 – Pull down all stinkin thinkin
– Jesus can restore, heal and change your marriage
2. DO NOT LOSE YOUR FOCUS ON JESUS
a. Focus on Jesus because He is #1
verse 3 – Do Not Let – It means do not lose your focus
– Jesus is #1 – Luke 14:26
– We cannot live without Jesus
b. Focus on Jesus and work on the inside more than the outside
– Galatians 5:16 & 1 Peter 3:1-6
c. Focus on Jesus and put away the pointing of the finger
– Isaiah 58:9 and 1 Corinthians 13:5
– It is a business term where we put things down on a ledger to remember them
Verse 7 – Husbands
– Husbands are men – these are Christian husbands and men
DWELL – has 4 meanings:
1. Dwell means to live with
– You only live with your own wife
– No living together with someone you are not married to
2. Dwell means to know your wife inside and out
3. Dwell means to help out
– It means not to merely take up space in the house
4. Dwell includes the treatment of your wife
– They are the weaker vessel
