Sermon Notes 6/15 – The Last Days

Rapture – is the complete instantaneous gathering together of the church by the Lord

                in a state of joy

(1.) THE HOLY SPIRIT IS OMNIPRESENT – Psalm 139:7-10

-the Holy Spirit is God – Acts 5:1-5

-The Holy Spirit is everywhere at once all of the time

-John 16:5-11 – the Holy Spirit convinces unbelievers that they need Jesus

(2.) THE LORD IS A PEOPLE MOVER – Colossians 1:13-14

-the rapture is a supernatural Biblical act of God that will happen…

Examples:

                    *Enoch – Genesis 5:21-24 & Hebrews 11:5-6

                    *Elijah & the chariots of fire – 2 Kings 2:1-17 (vs9-12)

                    *Philip Acts 8:26-40 (v39)

                    *The transfiguration of Jesus Christ – Mark 9:2-8

                    *The Rapture – God takes a large group of people from earth for the

                                             first time

***A great Family Reunion will take place – Hebrews 12:1-3 & Revelation 4-5

-24 elders represents all Christians from the OT & NT

(3.) THERE WILL BE RAPTURE RIDICULE – 1 Peter 4:12-19

-1st Peter was written during a time of great persecution

-Rapture Ridicule is the persecution of believers

1 Peter 4:12-19

         v12 – Jes suffered and so we wlll suffer

         vs13-14 – the glory, presence and grace of jesus helps us through all persecutions

          v17 – judgment – mens affliction and distress

-this speaks of persecution

           v18 – it will be hard to live for Jesus at times during persecution

            v19 – refers to leavi\ng a deposit of money with a good friend who

you can completely trust.  Jesus is a safe place to be when persecution comes…

(4.)  THE RAPTURE TAKES US HOME – 2 Corinthians 5:20-21

-we end up in heaven…the world we presently live in is not our home

-make a difference on earth
