Sermon Notes 5/22 – The Power of The Voice

                                          MARK 6:45-56

***When a storm comes, believers need to use their voice to speak life

***Whern a storm arrives, the Lord also speaks

Mark 6:50 – Jesus spoke 3 things during this storm:

1. Take Courage       2. It is I      3. Do not be afraid

                            IT IS I

***It is I is only two words which mean I AM…….

***The Lord revealed Himself as The Great I Am

(1.) THE GREAT I AM SPEAKS AND SAYS HE IS PRESENT AND ABLE – Eph 3:20

***Jesus being able speaks of two points:

                1. Being able means the Lord can do anything

                               —this is a fact we can depend upon

                               —everything changes, except the Lord – He is immutable

                2. Being able means the Lord will do way more above what we ask or think.  Never limit the Lord…..

(2.) THE GREAT I AM SPEAKS AND HE SAYS HE IS GOD – Exodus 3:13-14 & John 8:58

-the OT and NT say that Jesus Christ is God

-John 1:1,14……Is 9:6…..1 Kings 18:31……John 5:18…John 20:28

-He is the one true and living God and all other gods are false

-Jesus does not coexist with other gods – He is the only wise and true God

                        a. The Great I Am is a NOW God

                        b. The Great I Am is Sovereign – Psalm 115:3 & 135:6

-Sovereignty refers to the fact that the Lord can do anything He wants to do at any time with anyone or to anyone without their permission

(3.) THE GREAT I AM SPEAKS AND SAYS I AM WHO I SAY I AM – Exodus 3:1-6, 13-14…….Jeremiah 24:7…….Phil 3:10

-the Great I Am will be who He says He is and who the Word says He is

-do not develop your own god, faith and religion
