Sermon Notes 5/17 – Called – 1 Peter

FIRST PETER – CALLED

The word called is used 5 times in 1 Peter
-1 Peter 1:15/2:9/2:21/3:9/5:10
Called – means to personally choose someone for an assignment/to select/callout
The word called refers to several things:
1. It refers to special soldiers who are chosen to go on a special mission
2. It refers to the Lord calling you out of your current situation and placing you into something special
3. The word called refers to the fact that everything in our entire Christian life is a calling
WE ARE CALLED TO SUFFER – Philippians 3:10
-The word called means to receive an invitation
-An invitation includes a lot of information
-The Lord’s invitation includes salvation and a lot of information, including suffering
Suffering means to experience pain.  Why do we experience pain?
Jesus is our example to follow, and we live in a fallen world – 1 Peter 2:21-23
We do not experience pain because we have sinned or have a lack of faith…
What are we going to do concerning pain?
1.) ACKNOWLEDGE PAIN
a. We will experience pain
b. Admit you have pain in your life – Speak it
-speaking the truth is not speaking death – Mark 10:46-51
2 Points To Know
1. Speak The Truth
2. Speak To The Pain
2.) DEVELOP A MIRACLE MINDSET
– Luke 1:37 & 1 Peter 2:24
-The power of God is real, and He can remove all pain – Psalm 34:18-19
Luke 1:37 – the Lord can do anything, and He can get rid of your nothing
Watch out for an enemy of believers – Doubt
-doubt means to hesitate/question/stand in two places
-There are two doubts
1. Bad doubt –  walking in unbelief and not believing the Lord
2. Good doubt – you hesitate about things you hear
Get rid of bad doubt  so we can develop a miracle mindset culture at CCWC
Mark 5:35-43
Having a miracle mindset includes having a: WHATEVER IT TAKES ATTITUDE
-do whatever it takes to receive healing from Jesus
