Sermon Notes 5/15 – Zechariah
ZECHARIAH 8
verse 3 – Lord – is Jehovah…has always been – eternal living one – I Am
***One of the promises of the Lord – Jesus is coming back
-the Lord will dwell in Jerusalem – Matt 24:29-30 & Rev 1:7-8
***A personal appearance – His presence will be strong
verses 4-5 – This happens during the millennium kingdom where Jesus rules
*there is a partial lifting of the curse of sin
*Fullness of joy will be present
*there will be universal peace – Isaiah 2:4
*people will live longer – Isaiah 65:19-20
marvelous – means something beyond ones power & very difficult
verse 6 – People are amazed @ what has happened…….
-the Lord says that what has happened is not unbelievable for Him or to Him
verses 7-8 – The Lord will bring Jewish people back to Israel from all over the world – Deuteronomy 30:1-5
***The Lord brings things back…..
Be My people – through a spiritual encounter
I will be their God – a personal relationship
verse 9 – Lord of Hosts means Lord of the armies
-hearing or listening – means to hear, listen & practice the Word of God
Strong hands – it means to take a firm hold on something
-grab ahold of the Word of God
-Zechariah 9 shares that everything was bad for Israel, but they grabbed ahold of the Word and Faith and Jesus
verse 10 – disobedience and its consequences
verse 11 – A REMNANT – those who are all in and on fire for Jesus
-remnant means a portion
-join the remnant
verse 12-13 – The Blessings The Lord Will Give To The Remnant
-the Lord will cause these blessings to happen – v12
Blessings – prosperity/I will save you/I will turn things around – v13
-blessings come so we can bless others
verses 14-15 – THE LORD IS DETERMINED
-v14 – determined to discipline Israel because of their sin
Relent – the Lord will not change His mind
-v15 – The Lord is determined to also bless Israel
good – means valuable/kind/right/worthy and gives us benefits and is always doing good things
-Declare that the Lord is Good
verses 16-17 – Good things will automatically come to us as we obey the Lord and His Word
v16 – guard your tongue
v16 – follow God’s principles
v17 – Stay right with God
verses 18-19 – It is not a time to fast, but to feast
verses 20-23 – There is a time to fast, but not now
When Jesus returns, there will be a spiritual hunger to go after Jesus
grasp – means to grab ahold of someone and not let go – I’m taking you to go and see Jesus
