Sermon Notes 5/12 – The Voice of The Holy Spirit

THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ALWAYS AGREES WITH THE WORD OF GOD

AMOS 8:11-12 – a spiritual famine is in our nation
***Why should we read the Bible?
(1.) WE NEED TO READ THE WORD SO WE CAN HAVE MORAL CERTAINTY IN OUR LIVES, COMMUNITIES AND NATION –
***Be a voice – Matthew 3:3
***Jeremiah 1:1-9
***Exodus 1:15-22 & 2:1-10 – Satan hates children
(2.) WE NEED TO READ THE WORD OF GOD SO WE CAN DEFEND THE GOSPEL – Philippians 1:6/1 Tim 4:1-2/Matthew 24:4-5,11,23-25
***defend the gospel against false doctrine
***Remember:  When there is silence the Holy Spirit is speaking.  Silence means you are doing what the Holy Spirit wants you to do and you are in His will
(3.) THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ALWAYS AGREES WITH THE WORD OF GOD – Galatians 1:8-9
-any voice that contradicts the Bible is wrong and must be rejected
2 Points:
                1. only the Holy Spirit directs us – Romans 8:14
                2. the voice of the Holy Spirit always lines up with the Bible
***Knowing the Word means we will not be ashamed (2 Tim 2:15) and we will know who God is – Jeremiah 24:7 & Phil 3:10
-He is immutable – this means He will never change – Heb 13:8
-What the Bible says about God will never change & we need to believe it
