Thyatira – means daughter

-The church was having a hard time with a woman in the church in several ways

verse 18 – angel means messenger and is the pastor of the church

               – church – ekklesia – a called-out group of people with a specific mission

Son of God – refers to the deity of Jesus Christ

4 Sonships

1. Son of God – refers to the deity of Jesus Christ

2. Son of Man – refers to the humanity of Jesus Christ

3. Son of Abraham – refers to Jesus being Jewish

4. Son of David – refers to David being King

                A description of Jesus Christ

Eyes like a flame of fire – can see everywhere to bring light to dark areas

Feet of Jesus are like fine brass – this is the judgment of God that moves slowly

verse 19 – Jesus commends the church for their works of love & charity

Love – a love that keeps giving and giving and giving and giving

Service – is being someone who waits on us –

Faith – the Christian faith

Patience – means to stay and remain

verse 20 – I have something to discuss with you – the Lord was bothered by something – they tolerated Jezebel

You – is the pastor’s wife – the Jezebel spirit can use a man for its purposes

She called HERSELF a prophetess –

-Prophets do not direct anyone or any ministry

-Prophets must serve some place in the church

-Prophets are recognized in a church by the leadership

-What prophets say can be judged

-Stand against wrong words in love

Seduce – means to veer off the path/it is a picture of an animal that cannot find its way back home

The members of trade guilds made their members worship the false gods, or they would have no job

A  spirit of compromise was included in the Jezebel spirit

verse 21 – The Lord gives everyone tons of chances to be saved and to repent

—verses 21-22 are conditional verses

verse 22 – the consequences of not repenting for Jezebel

-death or lying on a couch with a sickness

verse 23 – the children are anyone who goes along with the Jezebel spirit

-The Lord keeps good books on this matter

verse 24 – Some in the church refused to listen to Jezebel

verse 25 – keep embracing the truth of Jesus & the Word of God

verses 26-27 – believers will rule and reign with Jesus when He returns

verse 28 – the morning star is the warm, early morning bright sun that keeps us

 warm
