Sermon Notes 3/6 – The Lake

THE LAKE

                                    Mark 6:45-53
The Lord Will Carry Us Through
v48 -0 the wind was against the disciples
-this speaks of the trials of life that happen to every believer
(1.) THE LORD WILL CARRY US THROUGH BECAUSE THE LORD IS IN CHARGE – Isaiah 6:1
-the Lord is completely in charge of our lives
-the believer is in control of their choices and reactions
-sin came into the world and brought with it death, pain and suffering
-every believer will suffer some kind of trial
(2.) THE LORD WILL CARRY US THROUGH BECAUSE WHEN THE LORD BRINGS YOU TO IT, HE WILL BRING YOU THROUGH IT
           a.)  ***The Lord brings you to it – Matt 4:1-11…Dt 8:1-11…Exodus 13:18 & 14:1
***The Lord is more interested in changing us than in changing our circumstances
b.) ***The Lord will carry you through it – Psalm 23:4 & Isaiah 43:1-3
-this principle is Biblical
                   DIFFICULT DAYS
Difficult days demand decisions of faith
-this is the opposite of going by our feelings
Difficult days include one of the Lord’s favorite words – THROUGH – Isaiah 43:1-3
(3.) THE LORD WILL CARRY US THROUGH, BUT OPPOSITION WILL COME – Mark 4:35-41
v39 – Jesus rebukes the wind because the enemy was in the wind
Mark 1:21-27 – the same word rebuke is used here & is associated with coming against demonic forces
Rebuke – means to restrain/keep down/turn back
***during a trial the enemy comes to get us to relinquish our hold on Christianity
-the Lord carries us through by giving us weapons and power to turn back the enemy
(4.) THE LORD WILL CARRY US THROUGH ALL THE WAY TO HEAVEN – 1 Peter 1:3-5 & 2 Corinthians 5:1
         1. Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave
-this takes us to heaven
-this means suffering and pain will not last forever
        2. Jesus is coming back again – John 14:1-3
