Sermon Notes 3/16 – First John – The Enemy

                                     The Enemy

-We are at war with an invisible world

-Our enemy is the devil and his demonic forces – 1 John 4:1-3

(1.) WHEN THE CHURCH IS REVIVED, SO IS THE DEVIL – 1 John 5:18

The enemy is fighting harder than ever.  Why?

          a. because of personal growth

          b. when you are a part of a fruitful church

          c. Because the enemy knows his days are numbered – Luke 8:27-31

Touch – this is not a small touch…It means the enemy cannot imprison us again

1 John 5:18

-Stay filled up with the Holy Spirit – Ephesians 5:18 – be being filled with the Spirit

         GRAB AHOLD OF JESUS AND DEMONS WON’T BE ABLE TO GRAB AHOLD OF YOU

(2.) THE DEVIL IS POWERFUL, BUT NOT ALL POWERFUL – 1 JOHN 3:8 & 1 JOHN 4:4

-Emphasize Jesus and not the enemy

                           NEVER BE SCARED OF THE ENEMY.  HE NEEDS TO

                                BE SCARED OF YOU TO THE POINT THAT WHEN

                                YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING, THE ENEMY SAYS

                                OH NO. THEY ARE AWAKE!!!

(3.) THE DEVIL CANNOT DRIVE YOU CRAZY IF YOU DON’T GIVE HIM THE KEYS

1 JOHN 3:7

He is a deceiver and will try to take your keys  to drive you into a state of confusion…

Do not give the devil a place to get into your life – Eph 4:27

             HOW DO WE KEEP THE KESY SO THE ENEMY DOES NOT DRIVE US CRAZY?

               1. NEVER BE INVOLVED IN THE OCCULT – Dt 18:9-13

-No fortune tellers…no witchcraft of any kind…no psychics or seances

               2. COVER YOUR MOUTH – Proverbs 21:23-31

***NEVER SPEAK ANYTHING THAT ALLOWS THE ENEMY TO THINK THAT HE

                                                 IS WINNING

-THE ENEMY CANNOT READ YOUR MIND, BUT CAN HEAR WHAT YOU SPEAK

-Cover your mouth and only say what the Lord says…………..
