Sermon Notes 2/8 – 1 Peter 1 – Called
CALLED
1 Peter 1:13-20
WE ARE CALLED OUT – Verse 15
Called – means to be called outloud/to call out
– We are called by the Lord to be saved – John 15:16 – Jesus chooses us
-The Lord calls everyone to be saved – v17
-Without Partiality – the Father is not a respecter of persons
-We are saved through the blood of Jesus – vs18-19
When we are called out to be saved, we become OBEDIENT CHILDREN
fashion – Do not become like an unbeliever
WE ARE CALLED TO – Verse 17
-We are called to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ – to know Him
Access – means an unhindered approach to the Lord
– Do not focus on imperfections because we are all imperfect
BEING A CHRISTIAN DOESN’T MEAN WE WON’T FALL.
IT MEANS JESUS WILL CATCH ME IF WE DO.
Hebrews 4:16 – this is an invitation to access
Boldly – this is freedom of speech/great confidence
obtain and find – means to discover something for you or for others
In times of need – a military term when a soldier needs help, other soldiers rush in to help them out
-The Lord Fights Our Battles
WE ARE CALLED UP – Verse 13
1. PREPARE YOUR MINDS FOR ACTION
-keep your mind on what counts – The Great Commission
-get rid of anything that hinders your spiritual production
2. BE SOBER
-be serious-minded – put away silly talk and thinking – Jesus is coming
-Have hope to the end – the grace of God will carry you through and up to go in the rapture
-Revelation – means to pull the curtain back
