Sermon Notes 2/6 – Mark 2

***We need to pray if we are going to have an Encounter with Jesus…

***The Lord is looking for people who will pray – Ezekiel 22:30-31

Make a wall or whitewash – this refers to making a wall that looks good, but is not strong enough to stand.  The Lord is looking for strong prayer warriors who will fight…

     Why Pray?

1. It is a Privilege – it is time to spend with Jesus

2. It is Powerful – James 5:16

-prayer accomplishes alot

3. Prayer is Necessary – we must pray for the Lord to move

-if we pray things happen

-if alot of believers pray many things happen – Lev 26:3-13

              ***4 men refer to prayer gatherings

              ***No excuses

              ***Acts reveals what happens when a lot of people pray together – Acts 2:14

TWO MAIN THINGS HAPPEN WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE PRAY – Mark 2:1-2

1. BREAKTHROUGHS HAPPEN – v4

-it means to smash an obstacle/to penetrate enemy territory/to restrict a flow

Breakthroughs result from having an encounter with Jesus, His Word and Faith…and after fighting for a long period of time — DO NOT LOSE YOUR FIGHT…

Breakthroughs include the enemy:

1. The enemy will attempt to stop us from praying

2. The enemy will attempt to hinder us from praying – 1 Thess 2:18

-hindering speaks of time

-while waiting for our breakthrough – the enemy whispers in our ear – he is a liar

2. AN OPEN HEAVEN OCCURS – Mark 2:4

-Matthew 3:13-16 – The Holy Spirit comes through when there is an open heaven

-Jesus comes through when there is an open heaven – Rev 19:11-16
