Mark 8

Believers need to know who Jesus is
***There are many Jesus’ in the culture – 2 Corinthians 11:3-4, 13-15
Verses 27-30  – Who Jesus is
v27 – asked – this word is continuous
     v28 – the answer
v29 – Jesus asks the disciples who people say that He is
v30 – don’t tell people who He is as a political uprising may occur
v31 – We must understand that pain is a part of life and Christianity
Must – means had to happen/it is necessary/it has to take place and occur
Example: John 4:1-5 – Jesus had to…….
Jesus Must suffer – it means to feel pain
*Pain will be a part of life – Acts 14:21-22
         *Pain produces compassion –
*Transform your pain instead of transferring your pain
We need to know who our enemy is – vs32-33
*** v32 – Peter rebukes Jesus – means to criticize/reprimand sternly/to disapprove
-Peter was attempting to stop or hinder the plan of God
***v33 Turned around – Jesus turned around 180 degrees
—Peter was not the problem – the problem was satan – our adversary/opponent
                          NEVER MAKE THE BATTLE PERSONAL
Remember 2 points:
Point #1 – Attacks from the enemy are about your future
Point #2 – Attacks come to people who are threatening the devil
We must know and obey Bible principles
1. Follow Jesus – verse 34 – to walk on His road
-this is a command to be obeyed at once
The Lord has given everyone the power to choose
verse 35
Save, but lose – this is enjoying the blessings of the world
Lose, but save – this is giving up everything for Jesus
vs36-37 – whole world – this is the pleasures, wealth, success and purposes of the world
v38 – ashamed – Jesus will deny people entrance into heaven because  they practice the opposite of what jesus taught
                                            Mark 9:1-13
vs1-13 – The Transfiguration of Jesus Christ
verse 1  is tied into chapter 8…..
Mark 8:38 – Jesus refers to His second coming
-this verse refers to the millennial kingdom where Jesus will rule and reign
-Transfigured – means our insides come to the outside
***it is a person’s character and nature being revealed
