The Gift of The Holy Spirit
Luke 1:8

Introduction: From GENESIS TO REVELATION He is the Spirit of LIFE. Spirit = Wind or Breath = animating life-giving force

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the BREATH OF LIFE, and man became a living being. He breathed His Spirit into Adam

Luke 1:8 And the angel answered and said to her, THE HOLY SPIRIT will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. He Breathed The BREATH OF LIFE into Mary

 

He is Breathing His Spirit into you

 

Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear O Israel, the Lord your God is ONE. There is one God with 3 distinct manifestations. God There is one God The Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

 

Jesus was crucified on Passover. 40 days after His resurrection He ascended into the 3rd heaven. On Pentecost 50 days after the resurrection the Holy Spirit descended. Jesus went up and the Holy Spirit came down.

 

The Gift of Power: Acts 1:8 But you shall receive POWER when the Holy Spirit has COME UPON YOU

 

The Gift of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit Acts 2:1

 

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit gives us a greater ability and power to pray

 

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit will give us victory over the flesh

 

Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. It’s not about your effort to stop sinning it about your effort to walk in the Spirit

 

The baptism in the Holy Spirit will give us a greater ability to Love

 

Agape love is an organic by product of the Spirit of the living God dwelling in us

 

When we walk in the spirit this love manifests itself as joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness
