Sermon Notes 12/18 – Zechariah 14

Zechariah 14

Verse 1 – Behold – means to get someone’s attention
-to know that Jesus is coming back soon  – Luke 21:25-28
-A day is coming – IT’S A DAY COMING FOR THE LORD
           The Lord will do what He wants to do on this day
-This day is going to happen – it is certain, sure, and there is no doubt
-It is the Lord’s timing
Spoil – the nations of the world will take Israel’s riches
Verse 2 – This is the battle of Armageddon
-The Lord uses this battle to bring Israel to salvation
Verse 3 – the Lord comes from heaven
Verse 4 – Jesus lands on the Mount of Olives in Israel
-An earthquake created a valley
Verse 5 – The Mountain Valley
-Israel flees through this valley and comes to Jesus
-Azel – is the eastern gate
-Lord my God – is a deity verse showing that Jesus Christ is God
Verse 6 – In that Day – something is going to happen
-all lights go out – Matthew 24:29-30
Verse 7 – One Day – means a unique day that only the Father knows about – Matthew 24:36
-Light – is the presence and glory of the Lord that pushes back darkness
Verse 8 – This is the millennial kingdom, and living water flows
-Toward the Eastern Sea – the Dead Sea
-Toward the Western Sea – this is the Mediterranean Sea
-This flow – which represents the flow of the Holy Spirit –  is always on the move
Verse 9 – Jesus is King and will rule from Jerusalem – there is only one God
Verse 10 – The topography completely changes because of the earthquake
King’s winepress – refers to a place of celebration and joy
Verse 11 – Israel will be safe and protected by Jesus
Verses 12-15 – The Lord fights for us and Israel anyway He wants to
Verse 13 – Israel’s enemies are confused & fight among themselves
verse 14 – The Jewish people join the fight, and the wealth of the nations comes to Israel
verse 16 – People from all over the globe will come to worship Jesus in Jerusalem during the millennial kingdom
vs17-19 – The Lord deals with people who will not worship Him
vs20-21 – The Bells of the horses represent prosperity
              -No more Canaanites – no more false gods or religions will rise up
Pots and bowls are utensils used by Israel to cook sacrificed meat.  They are dedicated to the Lord.  When Jesus returns, everything will be dedicated to the Lord….
Holy – means to be dedicated, set apart, and separated
