Luke 2:22-35
Luke 2:22-24 – is the Presentation of Jesus Christ
Present – means to surrender and offer someone’s life to the Lord…a Rededication
The Holy Spirit is mentioned 3 times concerning Simeon: Luke 2:25, 26 & 27
(1.) THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS – Luke 2:27
a. the Holy Spirit led Simeon to the temple (church)
-there are things that only happen in church that will not happen any place else
b. the Holy Spirit leads us to Jesus
v25 – the consolation of Israel – one who takes away pain, loss & grief & brings comfort and peace…one who delivers
***Luke 2:34-35 – Jesus is the fall of many – many will reject Jesus and He will be a target of persecution
– Jesus is the rising of some – some will be saved
Soul pierced – Mary will hurt as she sees her son crucified and die
(2.) THE HOLY SPIRIT SPEAKS – v26
***THERE MUST BE AN ENCOUNTER BEFORE THERE IS AN EXPRESSION***
-ENCOUNTER – is being radically saved and changed
-EXPRESSION – is the Holy Spirit speaking
The name Simeon means – to hear…to hear intelligently which means that Simeon discerned the difference between his feelings & the Lords’ leadings
The EXPRESSION of the Holy Spirit – a promise to Simeon of seeing the Messiah before death
The EXPRESSION of Simeon – had a divine certainty the promise would be fulfilled & manifested
(3.) THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS NO LIMITATIONS – LUKE 2:27
-The Holy Spirit will do what He wants to do and how He wants to do it
-Surrender to the Will of the Holy Spirit
-Simeon had to wait for a period of time to receive his breakthrough…
***This is the gap between the promise and the provision***
Luke 2:25 – looking means to have a daily spirit of expectation
TODAY COULD BE YOUR DAY
IT COULD BE YOUR TURN
Habbakkuk 1:1-6 – the Lord answered Habbakkuk, but not the way he thought he would receive the answer.
