Sermon Notes 11/9 – Titus 2:11-15

(1.) TITUS IS TEACHING THE GRACE OF GOD – vs11-12
grace – grace is the kindness, goodness and favor of God that is given to us for free…it is a freely given gift
***this grace is from the one and only true and living God
God – means the mighty one & the One and only supreme being
-this grace only can be received form Christianity
-every other faith that exists believes in works to get to heaven
***Grace brings salvation – Ephesians 2:8-9
-the Lord chooses us and saves us – John 15:16
-you don’t have to give up anything to be saved – Acts 2:21…Matt 4:19 & Romans 10:9-10
***This grace appeared – grace became visible at the INCARNATION
-the incarnation is God becoming a man – Jesus Christ…
-appeared to all men – everyone – the Lord is inclusive
***The grace of God not only saves us, but transforms us in our character & conduct – v12
-the grace of God never gives us permission to sin
-soberly – means self control
-deny – means to reject and refuse
(2.) TITUS IS LOOKING FOR THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST – vs13-14
looking – means to wait for and expect the coming of Jesus will happen
hope – is an expectation of good things to come and that things will get better
-it is appearance in Glory – the blessed Hope
Titus 2:13 is a deity verse which reveals that Jesus Christ is God
The second coming of Jesus is a time of Hope for several reasons:
——-more people will continue to be saved until Jesus returns
——-it is a time to receive rewards
——-there will be no more suffering, trials or problems
——-Jesus will rule forever
(3.) TITUS IS SPEAKING – v15
-it refers to speaking the Word of God
-despise – means to deflate/depreciate/put and tear down
