Sermon Notes 11/20 – Zechariah 12

ZECHARIAH 12

In That Day – vs4,6,8,9,11
-This refers to the second coming of Jesus Christ
-2 Timothy 3:1-8
know – this is a strong command to realize there is something to be recognized  and known
last – means the ultimate end of something
perilous & difficult – refers to harsh and hurtful words/wild and vicious animals that are uncontrollable – the same word is used in Matthew 8:28 to describe demonic forces
vs5-6 –
              ***v5 – The leaders of Israel realize they need the Lord to rule & defeat their enemies.  They realized they needed to be on fire for the Lord
             ***v6 – a firepot or pan in the woodpile refers to what is leftover from yesterday’s fire
-Israel stirred the ember and charred wood under the ashes & fire started again
-Israel became a fiery torch among the piles of grain
               HOW TO KEEP AND GET THE FIRE OF GOD AND GET IT BACK…
What is the fire of God?  It is the Lord’s presence, God’s enthusiasm, passion, and cleansing power.  This is for every believer
(1.) MALE SPENDING TIME WITH JESUS YOUR #1 PRIORITY – Eph 5:18/Gal 5:16/John 15
-This is the most important priority in our lives as believers
-The Lord is a consuming fire – Hebrews 12:29 – fire jumps on us
-Exodus 3:1-6 – Being on fire is a personal decision
-Exodus 34:29-30 – the fire of God produces an outward change
          FEED THE FIRE DAILY
Leviticus 9:234 – the Lord started the  fire on the altar, which represents the Lord starting the fire in us or lighting us on fire the day we got saved
Leviticus 6:9-13 – v12 – every morning
-It is the believer’s responsibility
-It is beyond an event – all events or services end
                   DO NOT EXTINGUISH THE FIRE – 1 Thessalonians 5:19
Quench – means to extinguish
                    How can we quench the fire of God?
1) By our own choice
-We choose how our walk in the Lord is
2.) Intellectualism – I cannot figure this out in my mind.  It is not reasonable
3.) Being satisfied – Always have a Holy dissatisfaction
-Declare I WANT MORE…
verse 7 – Judah first – the poor and the outcast – middle class
             – Jerusalem second  – more wealthy and upper class
***We cannot be a respecter of persons – James 2:12-10
verses 8-9 – this speaks of the Battle of Armageddon – Rev 19:17-21
The Lord fights – vs8-9
People must also fight – v8
The feeble – those who are weak will become warriors like King David
The house of David – they will receive supernatural strength and the strength of God
                   WE NEED TO GET OUR FIGHT BACK
-Fight with authority – Acts 16
-Fight with Practicality – Eph 5:16
-Fight by standing on the Word – Eph 6:10-18
-Fight through prayer and faith – Romans 4:20-21
-Fight by staying rested – Genesis 1:27 & 2:1-2
