Sermon Notes 11/14 – Philippians 2:1-11

Philippians 2:1-2 – the same mind/like minded/on the same page/unified

-all believers must be unified in the name of Jesus

-The name Jesus – means – God saves…The Lord is salvation

-Warning – the name Jesus is being removed from churches and the culture

          3 POINTS TO CONSIDER ABOUT USING THE NAME GOD ONLY

POINT#1 – Using the name God is the politically correct way to not offend anyone

-all religious use the name God

POINT#2 – Using the word or name God makes you a person of faith

-Believers are not people of faith, but born again believers saved by His blood

POINT#3 – Using the word or name God does not make you a Christian

-1 John 2:21-23 – if you do not know the Son, you do not know the Father

                      Three Facts About The Name Of Jesus

(1.) THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS

               a. Power to Save – Acts 4:12

-the Lord’s name – Jesus – means the Lord is salvation/a rescuer

-Luke 19:1-10 – so we must spread the name – we must GO

               b. Power to Heal – Acts 3:1-10 (v6)

-to heal any disease and sickness and illness

               c. Power over demon forces – Acts 16:16-18

-use it and keep on using it

(2.) THE NAME OF JESUS DECLARES THAT HE IS GOD – Isaiah 9:6

-the name Christ speaks of the deity of Jesus Christ – that He is God

-Since Jesus Christ is God, do not take His name in vain – Exodus 20:7

-the Lord’s name is to be honored and lifted up and praised

-this principle is to be followed forever

-it comes over into the NT

-Vain – means to misuse His name – using it irreverantly

(3.) THE NAME OF OF JESUS IS ABOVE ALL NAMES – Phil 2:5-11
