Sermon Notes 10/8: But God

BUT GOD

INTRO

“BUT GOD” is more than a transition between two thoughts.

The sentence is moving in one direction… and then GOD enters the sentence.

BUT GOD.

Those two words tell us that what came before them does not have to determine what comes after them.

“BUT GOD” doesn’t deny what happened before it. It introduces the One …JESUS who has the power to change what happens next.

TRUTH #1 — BUT GOD: MADE YOU ALIVE

EPHESIANS 2:1–5

There is power in remembering who you were and your BUT GOD Moment of salvation.

It keeps you humble, teachable and full of expectation.

If God did it then He will do it again!!

EPHESIANS 2:6–10

BUT GOD didn’t just bring you OUT of death into life—He brought you INTO Christ.

He didn’t just resurrect you from what you were—He united you with WHO HE IS.

We, us, sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

EPHESIANS 1:18–22

Heavenly places—this Greek word here refers to the invisible realm that surrounds our present daily situation, the arena or the sphere of spiritual action and activity. Christ’s authority, which encompasses every age and exceeds every known power, is here and now.

This is our present position; our citizenship is in heaven.

Our life and identity are in Christ, and He sits in heavenly places.

We are in Christ, which means in our battles and spiritual warfare, as we pray and we fight, we do so from a place of victory.

You are not fighting for victory—you are fighting from a place of victory!

JESUS HAS THE VICTORY!

You are not fighting from beneath the battle. You are fighting from your position in Christ!

1 CORINTHIANS 2:9–16

And because you are IN CHRIST, you don’t have to think like the person you used to be.

You have received His Spirit — The Holy Spirit.

We have the mind of Christ!

Your circumstances say one thing

BUT God has given you the Holy Spirit

A Godly perspective and understanding

TRUTH #2 — BUT GOD REDEEMS WHAT WAS MEANT TO DESTROY YOU AND USES IT TO SAVE A PEOPLE

ACTS 7:9–15

God was actually writing his story even in the pit, in Potiphar’s house, and in the prison cell.

It was a divine setup to save a people.

Even more than his outward circumstances, God was working in his heart.

God wanted to heal his heart.

God wants to heal your heart.

GENESIS 50:19–20

BUT GOD meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

The enemy tries to take us out BUT GOD!!!

God wants to use you to save a people .. will you give him your yes?

Jesus raised you up, and He will use your life and testimony to raise up many!!!

EPHESIANS 2:10

God has prepared good works beforehand for you to walk in them.
