Sermon Notes 10/27 – Psalm 91
PSALM 91
Verse 1- HE – are all born again believers – speaks of redemption
dwells – means to remain and stay – speaks of fellowship with Jesus Christ
***it speaks about spending time with Jesus every day
***it refers to sitting in the shelter
Secret place or shelter – this is any place where you can spend daily time with Jesus
who – dwelling is a choice – our choice to dwell or not – spend time with Jesus every day or not – determines what kind of believer we want to be. Choose to be on fire for Jesus
***Going to church does not take the place of being with Jesus every day
You meet with God in the shelter. He is called the Most High God…
The Most High God
v1 – El Elyon –
a. this means the highest of all – above all other gods – Only Jesus can save & heal
Philippians 2:5-11
b. El Elyon can see everything – El Roi in the OT – The God Who Sees
c. El Elyon speaks of everything belonging to the Lord
Mark 10:17-22 – He places His finger on everything in our life
ALMIGHTY
-The Lord is called the ALMIGHTY God – it means the All Powerful God
-Abide under the Shadow of the Almighty
***This refers to a place of shade where things are cool & refreshing
verse 2 – Our language changes when we spend time with the Lord every day
“I WILL SAY OF THE LORD”
-Anything we speak must be pleasing to the Lord……
-Colossians 4:6
DID YOU KNOW???
-only speak words seasoned with salt
-Repent quickly if we speak anything not pleasing to the Lord
-Speak the language of God….
What Can We SAY THEN – The Lord is My Refuge and Fortress
Fortress – this is one building that protects us from small attacks of the enemy
Refuge – this is a city of many buildings that protect us from large attacks from the enemy
-a Fortress and refuge never move – refers to Jesus being our foundation. nHe is our rock… – Matthew 7:24-27
-Trust in the Lord….
