Sermon Notes 10/23 – Zechariah 12

Zechariah
Chapter 12

Verse 1 – The Lord has a Word for us – the Bible – that we are in the last days
-The Bible and word of the Lord is that we are in the last days

The Bible refers to the judgment of God – verse 1
burden – means a crushing weight of judgment – against the enemies of Israel
-stand with Israel – Genesis 12:1-3

-God is the judge – He judges sin and not people
***The result of separation from God because of sin is eternal separation forever and for all eternity
—separation from God is a person’s choice
—hell is real
judgment means decision…to determine something – the Lord makes a decision based on a person’s decision

-God’s judgment is during the tribulation period. It is not for the church – 1 Thess 1:10…1 Thess 5:19…Romans 5:9

-God’s judgment is used by the Lord to save Israel – Jeremiah 30:7

-The Judge is also the Creator – verse 1 and Genesis 2:7

THE BIBLE REFERS TO THE BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON – Rev 16:12-16
—Armageddon means the Mount of Megiddo
-the final war between humanity and God Himself

—Armageddon ends when Jesus returns – Revelation 19:11-21

—Armageddon is a cup – Zechariah 12:2
-This war happens in the valley of Megiddo
-cup -refers to something that is being shaken. The nations of the world against Israel will be shaken by God’s judgment

verse 3 – Israel will be made a heavy stone
-This is a huge boulder that cannot be moved or destroyed

The Lord is the God of the I WILLS……..

LET’S SHARE SOME POINTS ABOUT THE BIBLE

1. GOD HIMSELF WROTE THE BIBLE – 1 Peter 1:20-21 & 2 Timothy 3:16

-The Bible is God breathed
***When we read the Bible we are listening to the very speech of God
***We cannot improve God’s Word, but His Word most definitely improves us

2. THE WORD OF GOD NEVER RETURNS VOID – Isaiah 55:11 & Hebrews 4:12

-The word always goes forth and accomplishes something. It is always working and on the move
-3 enemies that hinder our victory
1. sight – 2 Cor 5:7 2. Feelings 3. Time

3. THE WORD OF GOD IS A SOURCE OF HEALING – Proverbs 4:20-22

-The Word of God can bring about all types of healing

Psalm 107:20-22 – God’s Word can be sent out to people

4. THE BIBLE PRODUCES MORAL CERTAINTY – Amos 8:11

-The Bible answers all cultural and current issues – read and practice it

-Judges 17:6 & 21:25 – they did what was right in their own eyes
