Sermon Notes 1/9 – Mark 2:1-12

Mark 2:1-12

Jesus, 4 men, the Paralytic and and
                                     With Jesus…
(1.) TO HAVE A SUPERNATURAL ENCOUNTER, WE NEED JESUS AND HIS PRESENCE IN THE HOUSE – Mark 2:1
-You can have an encounter with the Lord any place and at any time
-An encounter with Jesus is not a church thing
-A supernatural encounter with Jesus produces sustained change
(1) TO HAVE A SUPERNATURAL ENCOUNTER, WE NEED JESUS AND HIS PRESENCE –
-this includes 2 Steps:
Step #1. we must recognize the Lord & His presence are with us.  His name means He is with us:
Immanuel – means God with us – Matthew 1:23 & Is 7:14
Jehovah Shamma – God is present – Ez 48:35
***psalm 139:7-10 and Genesis 39:2-3,21,23 – Joseph
Step#2 – Enter into the Glory Zone -this is where the manifest presence of the Lord is located and where lives are changed
***When any believer enters into the Glory Zone and there is an encounter with Jesus, some things happen:
1. RADICAL REVERSALS TAKE PLACE
-The Lord supernaturally turns things around
-expect an immediately – v12
2. HOUSE CLEANING BEGINS – v12
-it’s time to take the trash out
***Radical change happens immediately by the Lord
***Radical change happens over time by the Lord
***We make decisions to change things in our lives
—People notice these changes – v12
***THERE ARE 7 FEASTS OF ISRAEL – 1 Cor 5:6-8 and Exodus 12:15
1st Feast – Passover – represents redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ
2nd Feast – The Feast of Unleavened Bread – represents the removal of sin from our lives.  Leaven in the Bible refers to sin.  2 things primarily happened during the feast of unleavened bread…….
          1. They only ate unleavened bread – this refers to not placing anything in your body that would hurt it
           2. they literally cleaned their homes from the top to the bottom
3. WHEN WE HAVE AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE LORD, WE RECEIVE FORGIVENESS – Mark 2:4-12
-the man was paralyzed – sin paralyzes us…hurts and destroys us
a. Jesus can forgive sins because He is God
-only Jesus can forgive sins
b. We need to confess our sins – 1 John 1:9
– say the same thing God says about sin
-do not rename sins
-do not divide sins into 2 groups – the bad ones & the respectable ones
