     4 Characteristics of the Holy Spirit

1. REGENERATION — Salvation and LIfe – Titus 2:5

-at salvation a person receives salvation and life – John 3:16

          ***zoe – the God kind of life

-regeneration means a spiritual rebirth and renovation/ a recovery & new birth

  ***it is repentance

-the act of regeneration can be described by many words in the Bible

***Born again – John 3:1-8

***Redeemed – 1 Peter 1:18-19

***Saved – Acts 2:21

***Salvation – Titus 2:11

***Regeneration produces deliverance:

        1. Delivered from the power of darkness – Colossians 1:13-14

        2. Delivered from the world system – John 14:30

-James 4:4 – we cannot be friends with the world

        3. Delivered from the power of sin  – Romans 5:6-11

a. @regeneration- the power of sin is broken

-we receive a divine nature…we do not have to sin – 1 John 2:1-3b

b. @regeneration – only our spirit is saved  and perfect

-this is who we are in Christ

c. @regeneration – we receive the Holy Spirit – 1 Cor 3:16

-anyone saved has received the Holy Spirit – Eph 4:4

d. @regeneration salvation occurs immediately

-discipleship is a process – 1 Peter 1:15-16 – we are becoming

e. @regeneration we possess salvation

-people know if they are saved or not

f. @regeneration we are not saved by works – Ephesians 2:8-9

-humanity can never save themselves

g. Regeneration is only through Jesus Christ – Acts 4:12 and John 14:6
