Sermon Notes 1/26 – The Last Days

(1.) THE LAST DAYS IS ALL ABOUT THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST – Acts 2:17-21

-the last days started at the ascension and resurrection of Jesus – Acts 1:9-11

-we have to be looking for some things – 2 Peter 3:1-12

         2 Peter 3

vs10-11,12b – the day of the Lord – this is the return of Jesus.  It will come

-no one knows the day – Matthew 24:36

-like a thief – suddenly & without warning

-pass away – means to change from one condition to another

-heavens refers to 3 heavens…atmosphere, space & the 3rd heaven

-some ministers believe the words used here refer to a nuclear war

v10 – the works with in refer to the works of humanity – buildings etc

v11 – be ready for the return of Jesus – do not lose sight of the return of Jesus

-dissolved – not annihilated, but restored

           ***WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE SHOULD WE BE?

-live a righteous, holy and godly life

v12 – looking for – means to expect/wait for/ to anticipate

                          LOOKING in The Last Days

Hebrews 12:1-3

verse 1 – Therefore – refers to the believers in Hebrews 11

Great cloud – speaks of a great mass of clouds that covers the sky

witnesses – they are sharing what they have seen, heard and know about heaven

Run The Race – stay on the Jesus road

-entangle – spiritual battles will encircle us

verse 2 – Looking to Jesus – fixing our eyes and keep your eyes on Jesus

-looking – means to concentrate only on Jesus and turn away from everything else

      ***LOOK To Jesus & Do Not Look @ Church People – 2 Timothy 2:20

-there are saints and aints in every church

-2 Tim 2:15 – keep yourself close to Jesus and then help others

-LOOK at the harvest – John 4:34-36 – the people who are unbelievers

       ***LOOK To Jesus For Endurance – Hebrews 12:1,3

-endure  – is active persistence and not being passive

-things will get tough in the last days, but we will run the race and endure – race refers to having struggles and conflicts

-the Lord give us faith at salvation and to make it through – the author & finisher of our faith

2 Peter 3:12 – Looking for the coming of Jesus & a new heaven and new earth
