Sermon Notes 1/21 – Samson

                                       Temptation
Samson fell into many temptations – Judges 14:1-9
What was wrong with Samson – TEMPTATION?
What is Temptation?
Temptation means to persuade and influence a person to go out and sin – to disobey the Lord.  It is a desire to do something unwise, wrong or evil.
There are all kinds of temptations
Temptations will always be a part of life – – – Judges 16:4-5
Temptations will never end – Judges 16:16
-Quit blowing your temptations out of proportion & making them big. Make God big
We have a promise – 1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you  – no temptations have to overcome you
Common To Man – this describes things that are normally experiences by people and are not exceptional
God is Faithful – He is there for you and helping you all of the time
Escape – means to step out
***There are 2 sources of temptation – INSIDE & OUTSIDE
             —inside is the flesh
             —outside is the enemy
                      THE ENEMY AND TEMPTATIONS
1. The enemy wants to devour us – 1 Peter 5:8-9
-the enemy tries to devour us in 2 ways:
                        Through HONEY
                        Through SPEECH
HONEY – Judges 13:24-25 & 14:5-9 – a lion attacks Samson which represents the devil and his demon forces
—ANY STEP FORWARD YOU MAKE IN JESUS CHRIST ENRAGES THE DEVIL—
—SATAN DOES NOT FEAR REVIVAL AS MUCH AS HE FEARS OUR DISCOVERY                     OF THE FACT THAT REVIVAL CAN BE PERMANENT—
-The lion tempted Samson to turn off of the right path – Judges 14:8
                Honey represents 2 Things:
         1. Sin is fun for a season
         2. Honey represents sweetness and the Lord forgives me if I sin
                SPEECH
-the enemy tries to devour us by talking to us – demons talk
***THE ENEMY WHISPERS TO US WITH DEATH ON HIS BREATH***
REMEMBER:
1. DO NOT ALLOW THE ENEMY TO DO ALL OF THE TALKING
2. EVERY TIME TO TALK TO THE ENEMY LOOK DOWN
3. WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST
