Sermon Notes 1/14 – Samson

1. STRONG PEOPLE TEND TO BREAK RULES – Judges 14:1-9
Follow and obey the principles in the Word of God
Don’t allow your strength to move you away from your need of Jesus
The Lord Took A Risk – He created all of His creation with a free will
-we have a free will to choose or not choose to follow Jesus & His Word and will
-a free will can become a strong will
-surrender your will to the Lord’s will
-Not breaking the rules keeps us out of trouble
-We find ourselves in trouble and in messes because of our own choices
             ***Me is Me problem
***The devil did not make us do it
***Do not get mad at God because of your problem
2. STRONG PEOPLE THINK THEY CAN GO IT ALONE
ECCL 4:9-12…PROVERBS 18:1…MATTHEW 18:19-20
NEVER ISOLATE
Example:  David in 2 Samuel 11
-David sent everyone away
-Isolation brings with it the danger and possibility of not finishing well…
3. STRONG PEOPLE TEND TO IGNORE ADVICE – Proverbs 12:15
2 Types of people we need to listen to (they go together)
                          a. People who disagree with you – 1 Chr 21:1-8 – Joab
***The Lord is our only strength and power source
                          b. Listen to people who have a long term great & godly track record
