***There is a pause here to stop judgment and bring about evangelism…
***Chapter 10 is the Angel with the Little Book
-angel means messenger & we believe this refers to Jesus Christ
v2 – the Little Book is the Bible
vs8-11 –
v8 – take the book – the Bible is available…get spiritually hungry and read it
vs9-11 – The Word of God will be sweet and bitter
v11- John wa faithful to preach the Word until he went to heaven…….
THE BIBLE
*66 books – 39 in the OT & 27 in the NT
*one theme – redemption
*God wrote the Bible – 2 Peter 1:20-21 – He breathed on people His Word
-v20 – contextualization – we cannot come up with our own interpretation of the Bible
Ex: Mark 11:24
-v21 – no scripture came from any human being
was ever made – means came @ any time
moved – means to be influenced/to come upon/to be carried along
***The Bible is absolute truth
-this is something that is true at all times and anywhere…….
2 POINTS ABOUT THE BIBLE
(1.) STUDY THE BIBLE – 2 Timothy 2:15
Be diligent…make every effort…work hard
-this means to exert your self/be eager & hurry on
-this portion of the verse is personal – Christians must be SELF-FEEDERS…….
*Be approved to God – this speaks of pleasing the Lord and being a genuine teacher
Handling Accurately The Word of Truth
-this means to cut straight
(2.) THE WORD OF GOD IS ACTIVE AND ALIVE –
Hebrews 4:12-16
-when people are alive, they move & breathe
-the Word moves and breathes
-the Word defeats all temptation
-temptation – means to solicit one to do evil — Matthew 4:1-11
Isaiah 55:11
This refers to 2 Things:
1. this refers to the Lord speaking His promises
2. this refers to the believer being a mouthpiece of God
***It will not return void or empty
-means to be without success
-it will prosper
*there is no time frame when you will receive your breakthrough
WHY READ AND STUDY THE WORD OF GOD
1. THE BIBLE PRODUCES MORAL CERTAINTY
-the moral issues of today must be Biblically based
2. THE BIBLE GIVES US HOPE – Romans 15:13
2 Chronicles 34:8-21
-the Bible was found after being lost in the Temple – it brought hope to Israel
