1. The Army From The Pit – vs1-12
2. The Army From The East – vs13-21
THE ARMY FROM THE PIT
v1 – the 5th trumpet judgment
a. a star falls from heaven – this is a personage as seen from masculine personal pronouns – him in v1 & he in v2…….
b. this is satan – the devil and an angel
c. fallen – this happened in the past
Isaiah 14:12-14 and Luke 10:1-11, 16-20
d. the subject of the devil and demons is throughout the scriptures
e. the star does not have complete authority. The Lord is in complete control
vs1-2 – THE BOTTOMLESS PIT
-this is the shaft or tunnel leading to hell
-Matthew 25:41 – the reason for the existence of hell
-this is where some demons live – Luke 8:27-31
vs3-12 – THE ARMY FROM THE PIT
***locusts – these are not normal locusts – not eating vegetation
-demons are fallen angels
Demons
1. DEMONS ARE SPIRIT CREATURES – LUKE 11:24-26
-they inhabit other bodies
-they manifest themselves – Matthew 17:14-20
2. NOT EVERYTHING IS A DEMON – Galatians 5:16-21
-emphasize Jesus & not demons
-the flesh is mainly the issue
3. THE PURPOSE OF DEMONS IS TO TORMENT AND DESTROY
v4 – hurt or harm
v5 – torment
v8 – lions teeth – speak of cruelty & inhumane torment
-they are organized under the devil
v11 – abaddon & apollyon – means destruction and destroyer
-we fight against demons and not people – Eph 6:10-18
-Christians can never be demon possessed – 2 Corinthians 6:14
-Christians can be demon oppressed from the outside
4. ALL BELIEVERS HAVE AUTHORITY OVER ALL DEMONIC FORCES – Rev 9:4
v2 – to him – the devil – was given the key to the pit
-Christians should not allow demon oppression
5. DEMONS USE PEOPLE FOR THEIR PURPOSES – Matthew 16:21-23
-church division
-coming against the vision for the church
-standing against the Lord’s plan for your or other people’s lives
-watch out who you hang out with
6. DEMONS DEVELOP DOCTRINES – 1 Timothy 4:2
-not everything that is preached is from the Lord
-gift of discernment
