11:1 Now a certain man was sick Lazarus of Bethany the town of Mary and her sister Martha

12:3 It was Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil

Lazarus = whom God helps the Hebrew equivalent is Eleazar

Bethany = was about 2 miles east of Jerusalem and means house of affliction because it was a center for the sick

11:3 He whom You LOVE is sick

The same way Jesus loved Lazarus He loves you

Bad things happen to good Christians

11:4 When Jesus heard that He said, “This Sickness is not unto death but FOR THE GLORY OF GOD that the SON OF GOD may be GLORIFIED through it

A key to prosperity in your life: seek to glorify God

If I suffer I pray my Christian character and love will shine through my affliction in such a way that it will bring Glory to God

For the Glory of God be a Christian in the community

For the Glory of God stay married

For the Glory of God Practice what you preach and be real

For the Glory of God let God have His will in your life

For the Glory of God reproduce yourself as a Christian and disciple someone

11:6 So when He heard that he was sick He stayed two more days in the place where He was
-
God’s delays aren’t signs of failure. Mary and Martha sent for him and then waited
-
We want it now!

Patience ensures that we get God’s will and not our own the test of time with prayer proves the will of God
-
Realize that God’s timing is perfect

11:8-10 The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi the Jews were just now seeking to stone You and are You going there again?

The disciples wanted to protect Jesus

The disciples were afraid to go back to Judea themselves

11:9-10 Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day he does not stumble because he sees the light of the world

While you walk under God’s direction and you remain close to Jesus, the light of the world, your path will be clear
-
Being in God’s will is your number one priority
-
Being in God’s will is more important than your personal prosperity or personal suffering

What God has called you to do He will give you the strength to complete

11:25 I AM the resurrection and the life he who believes in Me though he may die he shall live

Martha’s reaction

11:27 Yes Lord I believe that you are the Christ the Son of God who is to come into the world

She understood and recognized Jesus of Nazareth as Messiah

11:24 Martha said to Him I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give it to you

FAITH!

11:35 Jesus wept

11:33 Deeply Moved with in even angry because of the sorrow that sickness and death brought to the people He loved Mary and Martha

He is fully God and fully man

He understands you

11:41 And so they removed the stone. And Jesus raised His eyes

The God man prayed to the Father to show us an example of Devotion and Dependency upon God the Father

11:43 Resurrection power over death
