Prayer (2016) Part Six
Matthew 6:11
Give us this day our daily bread………..
PROVISION
—the Lord’s name is Provision – Jehovah Jireh – Genesis 22:14 -the Lord provided a ram to be sacrificed in place of Isaac
-Jehovah Jireh means the Lord will provide – it is a future action
-Psalm 23:1 – The Lord is My Shepherd…I shall not want…
There is one main meaning here:
1. It means to be totally content and satisfied with Jesus
-all we need is Jesus
-only Jesus satisfies
-David left the sentence incomplete and so fill in the blank……
-be careful concerning stuff…
a. stuff will not make you happy or last – Psalm 144:15
-will no last – visit a landfill and see all of the stuff that does not last…
-will not make us happy – we all are desiring creations, but we must say no to stuff
***ONLY JESUS SATISFIES***
b. stuff cannot be taken with you – 1 Timothy 6:6-10 (v7)
“Give us his day our daily Bread”
1. Provision is based on he Lord’s character
-He is a Provider
2. Provision is based on the Word of God – Phil 4:19
-the Word says to give
-the Word says to work
-the Word says to live for Him – Mat 6:33
Our Daily Bread…
-the Lord provided for Israel in he wilderness for 40 years – MANNA – Exodus Chapter 16…Manna represents Jesus Christ who is he Bread of Life
1. Exodus – 16:4 – Manna was gathered daily
a. it came down from heaven – it was a free gift – v15
b. he Manna was sent to the wilderness of Sin
2. Exodus 16:4, 13-15 – Manna was gathered daily –
-we must have our own personal relationship with Jesus Christ
-some gather a little and some gather a lot – hunger level for Jesus – v17…It is he believers personal responsibility to get and stay filled up
3. Manna was sweet to the taste – vs31-32
-Psalm 34:1-8
-give it to the next generation
4. Manna was only given to Israel – v4
-just to Gods’ kids – not to Egyptians
-they had run out of the food from Egypt and not the Lord supernaturally provided
