Prayer (2016) Praise and the Lord’s Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Praise and the Lord’s Prayer
(1) DON’T LET WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU KEEP YOU FROM WORSHIPPING WHAT’S RIGHT WITH GOD – Luke 19:37-40
-the pharisees wanted the praise of the disciples to stop.  Jesus said no way
-the Pharissees represent the issues we all have that want to silence our praise
-an example os King David
    *he lost everything at Ziklag
    *lived in a cave
*was hated and hunted by King Saul
-King David praised the Lord anyway – Psalm 34
***PRAISE THE LORD IN THE BEST OF TIMES AND IN THE WORST OF TIMES***
-The Best Of Times – King David
1 Chronicles 17:20-24a & 29:20-21a
-the temple would be built through David and his son Solomon
-The Worst Of Times – Paul & Silas
Acts 16:1-31
-they were in prison and beaten, but chose to praise the Lord
(2) PRAISE AND WORSHIP IS ZOOMING OUT AND REFOCUSING ON A BIG GOD – Psalm 34:3
Magnify – means to increase and enlarge
-praise does not change God or move God.  Our praise does not change God, but changes us…
       IT READJUSTS OUR THINKING
-focus on the capabilities of God and not on the inability of man…….
(3) THERE IS A CORRELATION BETWEEN HOW MUCH WE PRAISE THE LORD AND WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR US – PSALM 103:1-5
-I can’t take it any longer because of the goodness and blessings of the Lord…
-the Lord is a Blesser – James 1:17
