Philippians (2016) Don’t Worry – Be Happy

Philippians 4

(1) DON’T WORRY – BE HAPPY – Philippians 4:6-7

v6 – do not worry about one thing
– do not worry about one thing

worry – means to be pulled in different directions
*we get the word strangled from the word for worry

*worrying is normally about things that will never take place

How do we conquer worry?
***Declare who you are in Christ…….you are not a worrier

(1) Pray – we need to pray worry away/pray for the Lord to help us
-keep – means to guard you heart and mind. It is a military term to keep worry away

(2) praise
-praise puts God to work

(2) KEEP YOUR MINDS AT PEACE – Philippians 4:8

*60,000 – 70,000 thoughts enter into our minds every day

-we must have peace of mind in todays culture….not as the world gives peace

So what can we do to have peace of mind?

(1) REALIZE GOOD AND BAD THOUGHTS WILL ENTER INTO OUR MINDS
-we cannot stop bad thoughts…Eph 6:10-18 – fiery darts of the enemy

-it is not sin to have a bad thought

(2) SPEAK OUTLOUD AGAINST THOSE BAD THOUGHTS
-these are thoughts against the Lord and His Word

(3) PULL ALL WRONG THOUGHTS DOWN – 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
-resist wrong thoughts continually

(4) REPLACE THE WRONG THOUGHTS WITH THE WORD OF GDO, PRAISE AND THE LORD
-think about Jesus and the Word of God

(3) I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME – Philippians 4:13

-Paul could face any situation and make it though in victory through the strength of Jesus Christ

-Paul went through much in his lifetime

-Paul had strength for all things…….He could face all things because of the strength of God

-whatever we go through or are called to do, the Lord gives us the strength we need

(4) THE LORD PROVIDES AS WE GIVE – Philippians 4:14-20

v14 – the Philippian believers were persecuted as Paul was and they also supported Paul with finances

v15 – only the Philippian church gave finances to Paul

v16 – the church at Philippi continually supported Paul – even in Thessalonica which 100 miles away from Philippi

v17 – Paul was not in the ministry for money. He was interested in the Philippians being blessed

v18 – Paul’s needs were met because people gave to support him

v19 – the Lord provides as we give……..
