An Outpouring of the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:1-21
An Outpouring of the Holy Spirit
*** THE DEFINITION OF THE WORDS POUR OUT
-it speaks of abundance, overflowing and a gusher ——– not a drip or a squirt
(1) WE NEED AN OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT –
-for our nation and the body of Christ
-we need an outpouring right now
-the outpouring of the Spirit is for everyone – vs17-18 – on all flesh
*for Christians – for the gifts to operate – vs17-18
*for unbelievers – v21 – that they would be saved
(2) WE NEED A CONTINUAL OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
-we do not want a downpour or a flood, but a steady flow
1. we must want Him, desire Him and have a hunger for Him
2. we must want an outpouring in every area of our lives
How do we receive a steady flow of the Holy Spirit?
CONTINUAL PRAYER PRODUCES A CONTINUAL FLOW OR OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
***ACTS 1:9-14 (V14)
***ACTS 12:1-11
***MATHHEW 7:7-8
CONTINUOUS – means to keep the pressure on/persist/endure/stick to it/do not give up or quit/do not let up
-continual prayer is a pleasure and also work…
-we need to love to pray
***Luke 18:1-6
***Luke 11:5-13
-The baptism of the Holy Spirit also helps us to pray continually – you can rest in praying in tongues…..
———the baptism of the Holy Spirit is separate from salvation and does not save anyone
———the Holy Spirit prays through us the perfect prayer of God
———we can pray as long as we desire to
———we do not have to come up with what to say
*When we pray, we must pray in faith believing – Mark 11:20-22:
(1) Get Rid Of Passive Faith
-we know the Lord can do anything intellectually, but not experientially…….
(2) Acquire True Faith
-this is using our faith to see people touched that will be saved, touched, set on fire for Him and then touch others……
